As the current president of the Rotary Club of Highlands, it is my privilege to be in a position to carry on what so many have done before me. Our club was started in 1945 with the mission to make a difference in our community and beyond. As we enter our 74th year, I am pleased to inform you that our mission to impact our community and beyond is still intact and stronger than ever.
The Rotary Club of Highlands has approximately 100 members that participate in a wide array of community oriented activities inside and outside of Rotary. Our local role is important but Rotary also enjoys a world-wide membership of over 1.2 million men and women striving to make a difference in their communities and in communities around the world in an effort to live out the Rotary motto of "Service above Self". It will be our goal this year to continually remind ourselves of this motto in everything we do.
As we prepare to get busy in our many activities from the 4th of July hot dog cook-out to Duck Derby and Twilight 5K, we invite you to join us in our efforts to impact the Highlands community. We also look forward to partnering with the Highlands-Cashiers Community Care Clinic to provide blood pressure and diabetes screening and treatment through a district grant totaling more than $4,000. If you would like to learn more about Rotary and the many activities we are involved with, please do not hesitate to contact me or any Rotarian.
